A photo of the septet on the stairs outside the Georgian Room in the Olympic Hotel where the band could be found two or three times a month during prom season. The players from top to bottom are, Burke, Keith Mirick, Doug De Meerleer, Ed Culver, Bill Kotick, Butch Nordahl and Don Glenn.

We had to be careful not to knock instruments over on the bandstand. This is a nice shot of Al Turay who often added guitar to our instrumental mix. Al, at the time, was one of the finest jazz guitar players in the city of Seattle.

The players from left to right: Al Turay, Cecil Heick, Keith Mirick, Burke Garrett, Doug De Meerleer, Butch Nordahl and Don Glenn. Burke is holding the blue balloon.

Hmmm, another photo shoot, where was that?

Burke Garrett's swinging Septet in the Olympic Hotel Bowl. Eight men including Seattle guitarist, Al Turay and pianist Pete Blue who was subbing for Butch Nordahl.

An early shot of the Burke Garrett Septet that by then was playing all special, custom arrangements. Includes Jerry Rowan (drummer, far left) and Al Ellis (pianist, arranger) suggesting that this photograph was taken circa 1960.

Here's a circa 1967 shot of the band at work. Left to right: Don Glenn trombone, Keith Mirick Trumpet, Bill Kotick drums, Burke alto sax, Doug DeMeerleer bass, Al Turay guitar and Cecil Heick tenor sax.
By that time the band had an extensive library of special arrangements that were custom written to accommodate our various doubles (Note the generous stack of charts on just one side of the bandstand below Burke and out in front of Bill Kotick). The four horn front line is clearly visible in this photograph.

There was an eight-man minimum in the Georgian room of Seattle's Olympic Hotel. During prom season, the band was often found playing in one of the Olympic hotel's three ballrooms.

The Burke Garrett Septet from left to right: Bill Kotick (drums), Cecil Heick (sax, Clarinet, Flute, and Valve Trombone), Butch Nordahl (pianist and arranger), Burke Garrett (sax, clarinet, soprano, and valve trombone), Don Glenn (“Mr. In a groove”, trombone), Doug De Meerleer (Bass, road manager), and Keith Mirick (Featured vocalist, lead trumpet and valve trombone).

Another shot of Burke's most popular working septet with two different faces: Jerry Rowan, drummer, centered in front and Al Ellis, early pianist and arranger trying to fall off the right side in back.

The regular septet sporting it's rather bright blue brocade dinner jackets with black satin trim. Ed Culver on the floor looking up. Pete Blue, excellent pianist, composer and arranger on the right side. And beyond that, all the regular guys.

From left to right: Burke (Clarinet, Alto and Soprano Saxes, and Valve Trombone) , Ed Culver (Tenor Sax, Clarinet, Flute, Valve Trombone), Meyer Slivka (drummer on loan from the Seattle Symphony), Doug De Meerleer (Bass and Road Manager), Don Glenn (Trombone), Jack Gardner (Pianist), and Keith Mirick (Trumpet, Valve trombone, Featured Singer).
